Automation & AI engineer

I automate the busywork of small businesses.

Automations, AI assistants and simple crew apps for teams whose tools don't talk to each other. Top Rated Plus on Upwork, 4,500+ hours, from Vietnam on UTC+7.

No call needed. Written plan within 24 hours. I take on a few free prototypes each week.

A loop of automations running: GPS trips becoming timesheets, job cards becoming invoices

Sound familiar?

The work behind the work

  • Copy, paste, repeat.

Someone on your team spends hours moving data from one tool to another.

  • Paper on the dashboard.

The crew fill in forms by hand, and the office types them up a day later.

  • “Did anyone send that?”

Reports, reminders and follow-ups depend on someone remembering.

  • Timesheets from memory.

Every Friday people rebuild their week, and hours go missing.

  • The answer is somewhere.

It’s in an old ticket, an email or a Notion page, and only one person knows where.

  • It broke, and the developer left.

A Zap, script or app stopped working, and nobody knows how it was built.

If two of these made you wince, send me one. The prototype is free.

How I work

See it working before you pay

  1. 01

    Send it.

Tell me what eats your time. Attach anything, in any format: docs, spreadsheets, screenshots, a screen recording, a voice note. No call needed.

  2. 02

    I study it.

I read everything, with an AI research assistant, and send a written plan within 24 hours: what I’d build, what it saves, time and price range.

  3. 03

    You try a prototype, free.

A clickable version on sample data, within 2 days. Not happy with it? You owe nothing.

  4. 04

    Build it.

A fixed price, paid in milestones, directly or through Upwork. You get the code, the logins and a short video on how it works.

The math

What is this task costing you?

Two numbers. Rough is fine.

8 h

Add up everyone who touches it.

$45

Wage plus overheads. If unsure, use 1.3 × the hourly wage.

An estimate, not a quote. Assumes 52 working weeks. Nothing you type leaves this page.

Cost per year

$18,720

That’s 416 hours a year spent on one task.

A fixed-price automation sprint typically starts at $600, after a free prototype.

About

Hi, I’m Brian.

I’m an automation and AI engineer in Quy Nhon, Vietnam. For more than 4,500 hours on Upwork I’ve helped busy owners connect tools that don’t talk to each other, often after someone else said it couldn’t be done. My longest client has worked with me for over five years.

FAQ

Questions owners ask

You're in Vietnam. Will we ever overlap?
Yes. I'm on UTC+7. My working day overlaps the New Zealand and Australian afternoon. Everything runs in writing, so the time difference matters less than you'd think: you send something in your evening and wake up to an answer. Clients so far are mostly in New Zealand and the US; teams anywhere are welcome.
How does pricing work?
The plan and prototype are free. If you go ahead, the build is a fixed price paid in milestones, directly or through Upwork. Typical ranges for each kind of project are on the services page.
Who owns the code?
You do. The code, the accounts it runs in and the data stay in your name. I build in your Google, Microsoft or cloud accounts where I can, and hand over the logins and notes at the end.
What happens if it breaks?
Tell me and I'll fix it. I add failure alerts where the tools allow, so a broken run gets noticed early. After handover, fixes are billed hourly or covered by a retainer, and you get a note on what went wrong.
Should we hire you on Upwork or directly?
Either works. Upwork gives you its payment protection and my review history. Hiring directly keeps the fees out of it. The price and the way I work are the same.
What access do you need to our data?
Only what the job needs, through accounts or API keys you create and can switch off at any time. I never store your passwords. Personal data stays in your systems, and AI features use the business APIs from OpenAI or Anthropic, which do not train on your data by default.
Which tools do you work with?
Google Workspace and Apps Script, Microsoft 365, Zapier, Make, n8n, Python, REST APIs and webhooks, PostgreSQL, React, OpenAI and Claude, WhatsApp bots, AWS, Azure and Docker. Plus industry tools like ConnectWise, AppFolio, Property Meld, Cartrack and Xero. No API? I have worked around that too.
How does a project start?
Send me the process that eats your time, with anything that shows it: docs, spreadsheets, screenshots, a screen recording or a voice note. Within 24 hours you get a written plan with what I'd build, what it saves, and a time and price range. Then you try a clickable prototype on sample data, within 2 days.
Why is the prototype free?
Because it's the fastest way for both of us to know it will work. You see the fix before you pay for anything, and I find the edge cases before I quote a fixed price. If you don't like it, you owe nothing. I take on a few free prototypes each week.
Do I need a call?
No. Everything works in writing, which suits different timezones and busy days. If you'd like a call at some point, I'm happy to set one up, but it's never a required step.

Tell me what’s eating your week.

Send it in any format. You get a written plan within 24 hours and a free prototype within 2 days. No call, no obligation.

Or message me on Upwork or email.
